Ted Finkelstein has been an admitted and practicing attorney in New York since 1979. He received his juris doctor degree from Union University cum laude where he was elected to the Justinian Honor Society and was a published member of the Albany Law Review. In addition to his juris doctor degree, Ted has an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law.
Ted started his legal career working as a trial attorney for the New York City Law Department. He then worked at a national accounting firm in New York City where he analyzed tax shelters and prepared tax returns, wills and trusts for entertainers and musicians. Ted then moved to Westchester County where he was the Senior Associate at a large law firm in charge of tax, real estate, corporate and trust and estate matters. From 1988 to 2001, Ted operated his own law firm in Putnam County specializing in estate and financial planning, wills, trusts and estates, taxation, corporate and commercial and residential real estate.
In 2001, Ted was hired by Gilman Ciocia, Inc., a publicly owned financial services company, and by Prime Capital Services, Inc., its FINRA broker dealer, to be their general counsel. In 2002, Ted was promoted to vice president, secretary and general counsel of both companies. He served in these offices from 2002 through the sale of the companies to National Holdings Corporation in November 2013.
Ted now has a private law practice for select referred clients where he provides specialized legal services including estate, financial and tax planning; will and trust drafting; business and corporate formation and succession planning; real estate; probate, trust and estate administration; and elder law.
Ted enjoys bicycle touring, running, music, reading, travel and pizza.
